Audio Guide

This is where Auguste Rodin spent the last years of his life, from 1908 to 1917. Since then, his superb sculptures and private art collection have been housed here. There are a number of sculptures in the garden, including his best-known piece, the Thinker. Trees provide welcome shade and the benches placed beneath make these peaceful surroundings the perfect spot for meditation and relaxation. An annex to this museum - the Villa des Brillants, which the artist bought in 1895 - is located in Meudon.

Photograph Collection
Jul 28th, 2009 to Dec 31st, 2010
Rodin was born one year after the camera was invented making his life and work easily documented and influenced by photography. View photos of his family, unfinished works of art, and people like lsadora Dunca and George Bernard Shaw, who he happened to spend time with. While this is historically interesting the most extraordinary photos are those that show us the step-by-step process by which he developed his sculptures.

Rodin As Collector
Ongoing
Rodin is as well-known for his extensive collection of antiques as he is for his own works. This gifted artist showed a liking for antique pieces from all over the world, and accepted them into his personal collections. Be it sculptures or paintings and sketches, he painstakingly collected them from all over the world. See the Seated Cat and the Headless Hercules, which are counted as some of the best amongst Rodin's collection.

Sculptures
Jul 28th, 2009 to Dec 31st, 2009
The 6,600 sculptures that are displayed in the Rodin museum range from his early works when he was completing busts of his father and the famous The Man with a Broken Nose to his later marble sculptures, Hand of God and Fish-Woman. Made out of terracotta, plaster, bronze, marble, wax, molten glass, stoneware, among other materials, and ranging in style and technique this exhibit offers a glimpse into the movement of Rodin's career.
