Dedicated to the exposure of art and artifacts created by Afro-Americans, this museum started life in a rented loft in 1967. The New York Bank of Savings donated the present Harlem premises to the museum in 1979. The museum features temporary and permanent exhibits. The photographic collection offers insight into Harlem's past. Sculpture is on display in a small garden.
