Interesting Cemetery An upmarket cemetery for the wealthy of Buenos Aires. Family tomb of Eva Peron is here. Peaceful to walk around if exploring the Recoleta District. Lots of cats, as the locals don't like to kill unwanted kittens. They bring them here where they are fed by some kind hearted people!! Most of the tombs are like small houses with opulent granite and marble facades. Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes
Why? / Why Not? Peaceful, interesting. They also have guided tours at set times, although I would not l would prefer to buy the guidebook & go round alone.
A place to remember I love this place! The tomb of Evita is beautiful!
Reviewed by: orange from on Nov 13 2008 Recoleta - more than just a cementary The Recoleta Cementery is a sight not to be missed. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place of repose. Eva Peron is buried there and is the most visited tomb at the cementary. However, do not miss the chapel next door and the old monks quaters (for a minor extra charge) Make sure to visit the many shops and restaurants nearby. During weekends there is also a crafts fair around the Recoleta.

You have Evita (not so well marked), you have Sarmiento, the unknown soldiers from the war with Paraguay, Juan Manuel de Rosas and other evil leaders, tons of Presidents...you will basically find all the street names in Buenos Aires in here. If you're a history buff or know Argentine history, it's amazing. Otherwise, it's still pretty cool.
