This small neighborhood café in the Uptown area caters to a cosmopolitan clientele. Owner Jack Ekhtiar presents jazz nightly for your enjoyment. Contemporary, slightly Bohemian decor complements the penchant for jazz. The flagship menu item is a Roasted Spring Chicken Half with Saffron Rice, Grilled Vegetables and Brandy Demi-Glaze. For a somewhat lighter, less meaty meal, try the Eggplant Morrocco, served over Couscous with vegetables.

OUTRAGED! Has customer service died?
“I’ll take it off under one condition… if you don’t come back.” These were words spoken to me from a night manager at the low-key restaurant located on McKinney Avenue. I cannot believe the experience I just encountered. After my ten years of being in the fine dining industry, acquiring extensive food, and wine knowledge, even managing restaurants, I have never seen such a display of out-right disrespect and defamation to customer service! I am making a point to utilize every avenue feasible to express my discontent and overall dissatisfaction with the service as a whole. A manager who is supposed to set the standard of the service exhibited in a restaurant and this standard was below the lowest par.

If the manager cannot assure that the guest receive a distinctive dining experience through great service, who else will. Amidst the innumerable times I have dined at Avanti, I have never encountered such recalcitrance as I did tonight! I am outraged and
