Reviewed by: Keena from on Sep 28 2009 Buy reserve tickets online to avoid lines! This is a must see if you are going to be in the NYC area. I was informed by another traveler to buy my tickets online and was I ever glad I did. If you purchase "reserve tickets" online you get to skip past a long line and go directly to security. They are the same price however you have to say what time you will be there for it to be a reserve ticket. I used the computer at my hotel right before we left and reserved for the next time slot and then walked past over 200 people in line right to the front. The prices are the same, but you only have a short wait before boarding the ferry maybe 20 minutes compared to hours. A lot of people had purchased the NYC pass which has tickets to a lot of different sites these tickets will place you in the long line and would not recommend buying this unless there is a lot of sites you are going to be visiting. When you are ready to leave however be prepared to wait. We waited 1/2 hour for the ferry to take us back not bad being this is such a popular site.

Reviewed by: Mary Ann from on Sep 07 2008 If you want to see the Statue of Liberty cheaply. Whenever I take family to NYC to see the Statue of Liberty, instead of waiting in all the security line, I take them on the staton island ferry, its only a buck or two and you get a boat ride and go past the statue.
Reviewed by: Alison from on Aug 09 2008 Don't wait in Line If you really want to visit the statue buy your tickets in advance. The experience was a total waste after standing in line for almost 2 hours.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 13 2008 See it from Staten Island Ferry; free and no hassles! Thanks to the 9/11 losers who corrupted flying and going to places like this, the visit to the SOL was the worst! We were up early to go get in line (although we had already pre-purchased tickets) to get searched before getting on the ferry...once at the Statue, had to wait in another horrific long line to get inside. Totally would NOT go thorough all that again...should have taken the ferry to see it from the water--that would have been better than wasting over half of a day of our trip.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 30 2008 Prettier and larger in person The ferry ride over is fun--but cold in the winter. The island is really nice and go ahead and take the museum tour (remember, tickets have to be purchased for this at least 2 days in advance). It's worth the 30-45 minute way due to security checks. The museum history is awesome and the observation deck is nice.
Reviewed by: TN Cat from on Dec 13 2007 Oh Lady Liberty I like it but a lot of securety (due to 9/11). I really like the mueseum and the shop (yet I wish it was bigger). 5 flits of stairs not my favorite part to hear from the person there if you have been in the museum two things.
