This interesting bohemian neighborhood was once know as part of the Barrio de la Chimba, which in quechua language means 'the other side of the river'. This area has a romantic and picturesque quality which attracts artists and the like, making it a happening night spot with many cultural activities, art galleries, theaters, restaurants and dance halls.
