This theater puts on limited runs of new plays and classics as well as international and experimental work. First opened in 1895, it has survived despite being threatened with closure throughout the 60s and 90s, to become a successful venue for concerts and plays alike. Performances range from drama and comedy to physical theater and opera. There are also children's plays and drama school productions. A studio located inside puts on productions by small, visiting troupes: new plays, classic revivals and international plays. Backstage tours can be arranged on request.
