Wales' premier museum is an impressive, white stone building, housing a number of separate exhibition rooms and art galleries. The central exhibition is the multimedia "Evolution of Wales," which documents the history of Wales. The galleries include works by some of the world's most famous impressionist painters, as well as displays by Welsh artists. There are sections on natural history, Celtic art and archaeology, while the new Glanely Gallery offers activities, talks and a hands-on exhibition for all ages. Admission is free.

Darwin: A Revolutionary Scientist

Known as the 'Father of biology', Charles Darwin was a naturalist who developed the 'Theory of Evolution'. The exhibit, Darwin: A Revolutionary Scientist held at the National Museum Cardiff, takes a peek at his life and times through the eye of his contemporaries. The exhibit also presents artifacts of his works on natural sciences and establish his theory. However the main aim of the exhibit is to bring to light that Evolution is not theory but a practical phenomenon.

The Archaeology & Numismatics Collection at the National Museum Cardiff documents the history of Wales like no other. Through the exhibit one can see a history of 250,000 years pass by in a couple of hours. The official erection and lighting of the Christmas tree at the open-air National Museum at St. Fagans is one of the highlights of the year and always draws huge crowds. Many of the museum's houses and buildings are decked out in the style of a Victorian Christmas: there are brass bands, carol singing, a craft fair, mince pies, mulled wine and much more in the way of entertainment. Bring the whole family along and get into the spirit of Christmas Past.
