This beautiful building was inaugurated in 1857 and was built by the architects Brunes de Baines, Henault and Aldunate. It was remodeled in 1870 and 1906 because of a fire and an earthquake, respectively. It is decorated with good taste, with predominantly red colors in the upholstery, the rugs, and the curtains. The walls and floors are old marble. It seats 1,400 people. The Philharmonic Orchestra and the Municipal Ballet of Santiago perform here. There are also operas, ballet, and music with famous Chilean and international artists. Also in the Chapel room there are art exhibits, and in the philharmonic hall, musical camera presentations, plays, video showings and conferences. For the international features, it is recommended to reserve your tickets well in advance.2 ¢/min and up – call home from over 100 countries!http://travel.comfi.com/Best Value.
