The National Library, which is today a National Monument, dates back to the 1914 to 1927. It's main facade, which faces Avenida Libertador Berardo O'Higgins, is in the 'beaux arts' French style of the end of the 19th century. Chileans painters Arturo Gordon and Alfredo Helsby decorate it with works. The library has more than six million books and is one of the most complete in Chile and Latin America.
