Back to New York Public Library Wow - even impressed my husband This place is fantastic! Although during our visit the outside was under construction and didn't look impressive at all, you must go inside this gem and check out the main reading rooms on the 3rd floor. The architecture and murals remind me of Rome. I must admit it is more impressive than many museums I've visited in the U.S.. And how nice to be in a glorious room filled with books, laptops, and people and it be completely silent except for the moving of chairs and whispers. They enforce a no cell phone policy and all who visit pay it reverence. The artwork and bright windows give you a calming feeling and help you relax into the wooden chairs or benches. If you enjoy art or architecture, you must add this to your list.

Of course, it is also free of charge and maintains it's records wonderfully. A beautiful building and comfortable surroundings in hectic New York.

For something a little different to do, The NY public library was very neat. the architecture is simply beautiful, and going inside make you feel like you've stepped back in time, with the old style library desks and stone everywhere. Im not usually the type to see museums and such when traveling, but we were in NY for 4 days, and this was really a great place to see. Quite grand front steps as well. check to see when their open, We tried to see it one other time we were in NY and they were closed.
