Reviewed by: Haley from on Jul 20 2008 took my breath away it was a cold december morning as we came up from the subway and into battery park despite the renovations it was a lovely site. We were facinated by the wares of the street vendors and the park entertainers made for a very colourful sight. After getting our tickets for Ellis Island we waited for the ferry warmed by hot chestnuts and pretsels from the vendors. The statues are impressive and the view around the park with all the different arcitecture is a sight not to be missed. We had a wonderful time and look forward to going back again.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 19 2007 The Battery We went down to Battery Park on the day before we to leave NYC. And of course it was one of the coldest days of our trip. Just as a note, bundle up during the winter and bring a jacket during any other season due to the winds. From the end of the park, you can see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. You can take a ferry out to see them for cost. You can find the ticket booth for that in Castle Clinton. I would have done it if not for the extreme cold weather. As I continued to walk through the park, there is a rather large Navy & Air Force Memorial which faces out to sea. The park is a great place to take a break with the family (on a nice day that is).

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 13 2005 Beauty in the middle of the city. Battery Park was beautiful and lots of fun when we went on the weekend. Tons of people and a festival type of atmosphere with food and craft vendors along the walk. I really enjoyed seeing the "sphere" that was damaged in the World Trade Center attacks. It was a moving tribute to that day which will be there only temporarily. This is were you buy tickets to the Statue of Liberty as well. The only drawback is that I went back by myself during the week and there was hardly anybody there. I felt a little uncomfortable because people kept asking me for money and following me arrond. There was an amazing acrobatic street act, but they were very pushy about people giving them $5 or more for watching. They practically followed people around! Overall, a great place to visit, but I'd go on the weekend.

Then look no further because Battery Park City is the place to be on a nice clear day. Visitors are on the water as the stroll along the walkway. On the other side a combination of beautifully built apartments, trees, dog parks, etc. A great place to go for a stroll, sit by the water and have a light lunch or dessert.
