Housed inside the Cheekwood Botanical Garden, the Cheekwood's Museum of Art is a thirty thousand square foot room which is dedicated to American and British contemporary art. The building is built in a Gregorian styled mansion with a large collection of paintings by American and British artists. The collections also include silver and one of the most noteworthy collection of 'Worcester porcelain' in America is part of the extensive display. Cheekwood's Museum of Art has also been selected to house the Matilda Geddings Gray Foundation Collections. A number of exhibitions take place here on a regular basis.

William Edmondson was the first African-American artist to receive a solo exhibition at New York's Museum of Modern Art (1937). In the American art history Edmondson holds a very vital place and his sculptures are incredulous. At the age of 57, Edmondson started carving sculptures with limestone using a hammer and a railroad spike. He carved for nearly 17 years.

The exposition includes 57 rare pieces, amongst them are the extraordinary three Russian Imperial Easter eggs, and a number of important functional items, fantasy items and floral works.
