The Vienna State Opera building was constructed in 1869 and the two horses over the main facade of the loggia represent harmony and poetry. The back of the building is broad and hence the stage and various facilities are located here, while the narrower front section holds the seating for the audience. The state opera also houses a museum for music lovers, each meter represents a year in the 50 years of its history of the opera. The opera hires out the stage for various shows and they have opera for children, an opera school and a ballet school on the premises. In winter, the lavish Opera Ball takes place.
