This attractive outdoor court was designed specifically as a volleyball venue for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. In keeping with China's attempts at making the 2008 Games more "green," a "sun-chasing solar power generations system" has been installed, which is a solar-energy-converting mechanism that automatically moves to match the position of the sun, thereby collecting the optimal (maximum) amount of sunshine at all times. Fun fact: 17,000 tons of sand was imported from Hainan to cover the playing ground.
