Uncourteous Taxi Drivers
You always hear about rude taxi drivers in New York, but they actually are here in Vancouver as well! On my way to work today, while crossing Bute at Davie Street downtown on a walk signal, I was almost run over by a Yellow Cab taxi driver. Not only did he almost run over, he then yelled at me in some foreign language! (I guess whereever he's from, pedestrians are not allowed on the roads) Anyways, when I reported this to the Yellow Cab Operations supervisor, he was totally uninterested. Because I only got the last number of the cab number, he said he would be unable to track the taxi drive as he has 208 cabs on the road at one time. I told him he would only have 20 cars with that as a last digit. This didn't seem to matter and he said there was nothing he could do about it. I guess he must get so many complaints about his drivers, it goes in one ear and out the other. I asked him if it wasn't a Yellow Cab that killed a pedestrian on Hemlock street the other weekend. He asked what that had to do with anything. Duh!!! Like maybe your drivers need to be a little more cautious about pedestrians on the road???? Anyways, that's my experience with Yellow Cab taxi drivers and needless to say I will never ever use one again and we will not be calling one for any of our customers downtown either!
