This addition to thePlace des Arts family is, fittingly, the complex's most technologically advanced. A fully modular floor plan features movable seats, an expandable stage and capacities ranging from 300 to more than 400. Though no company makes the Cinquieme Salle its permanent home, any given year might see dozens of dramatic, musical and dance performances; it provided a suitably intimate setting during the Just For Laughs festival for the infamous Puppetry of the Penis!

In existence since 1981 and unique in North America, this world-class competitive festival has become an important annual event. International Festival of Films on Art presents and promotes films, videos and television programs that focus on everything from architecture and art history to sculpture and theater. The first FIFA gave audiences 50 art-related films from 12 countries; it now features more than 150 films from more than 25 nations, in a number of venues.
