Place des Arts' second-smallest theatre, which seats less than 150, is also its most sparsely decorated: seats surround the bare wooden stage in an Elizabethan setup. Anything from theatre to standup comedy might be featured in a given month, but this is also Montreal's foremost cabaret venue: a yearly contest aims to find the best young vocalist in the province. It is easy to forget that you are sitting in such a monolithic building in this charming performance space.
