Built as a monastery in the 14th Century, the building lay in ruins till it was reconstructed in the 17th century in the baroque style. San Martino Museum has collections that range from historic documents, ship replicas, porcelain, silver to paintings, sculptures, cribs (they have over 600 of them), and minor arts. It also contains important paintings of Neapolitan from the 16th-17th century. Close by is the Castle and the fortress of Elmo. This is the most visible landmark in Naples, for it is built atop the Vomero Hill that overlooks the gulf. Admission: EUR 6.disabled access.
