Bordered by Orchard Road, Istana Park was designed as an extension to the presidential palace Istana. The lushly landscaped grounds feel like a tropical oasis and serve as a gateway to Singapore’s civic district, the historical and cultural center of the city. Completed in 1995, the highlight of the park is the 16 meter high “Festival Arch.” Rising out of a reflecting pool, it is constructed out of steel and stone, it mimics the architecture of the palace and provides an excellent vantage point for viewing the changing of the guards ceremony.
