Named for a rare variety of Torreya tree that grows exclusively here on the bluffs above the Apalachicola River, this state park is nothing short of breathtaking. Find year-round, picnicking, hiking, and other outdoor sports, and when the heat dies down don’t miss some of Florida’s finest fall color. Torreya is also a popular bird-watching destination, with over 100 species known to inhabit the park. The park’s main campground features full-facility campsites, a YURT, or Year-round Universal Recreational Tent), as well as a youth campground and primitive campsites. Don’t miss Torreya’s ranger-guided tours of the Gregory House, an 1849 plantation home. Please note that Florida State Parks prohibit open flames, including campfires. Daily admission fees are on the honor system, $2 per vehicle and $1 for each additional passenger or pedestrian.
