Sawdust's annual summer show has been a fixture of Laguna Beach for more than 40 years. It is home to the best in arts and crafts that the city and its residents have to offer. There are hundreds of booths set up with art from every discipline- painting, ceramics, clothing, jewelry and more. The ground is covered in sawdust, hence the name. For entertainment there is live music, magicians, jugglers, belly dancers and more. There are outdoor cafes and a saloon. People from all over southern California make a point of attending this month-long festival every year to pick up a slew of unique and handcrafted items that they won't find anywhere else. Festival patrons can interact with artists as they demonstrate the craft of glass-blowing and even create their own art at the complimentary art projects, open to adults and kids alike. Feel free to talk with the artists personally and even buy some of their work directly. Admission: Adult USD7, Senior USD6, Children USD3. Visit website for info on season passes and special events.

Sawdust Art Festival Winter Fantasy Nov 21st, 2009 to Dec 13th, 2009 Colorful Winter Wonderland - Where does Santa hang out in Laguna Beach? Come see him at Sawdust Art Festival Winter Fantasy. Since 1990, it has been an annual holiday tradition that people gather at Sawdust, see the lighting of the Christmas tree, listen to holiday carolers, and shop for one-of-a-kind art pieces. The charming festival ground is turned into a winter wonderland with thousands of lights sparkling in the (artificial) falling snow, music and dance performances throughout the day, and over 170 artists' booths displaying colorful paintings, jewelry, textile, and more. To explore your own creativity, come to the workshops, make a wreath or some ornaments. This fun and rewarding experience is particularly popular with children and families. Note: the festival is also open the Friday after Thanksgiving. – Hoiyin Ip
