Come for the cheap drinks, stay for the rockin' jukebox. The Hemlock attracts a diverse crowd of mostly hipster and rocker types. The bar itself is a 360° walk-around on two different levels and there are tables, chairs and wall-bench seats. Seating is scarce at night and during live shows it can be difficult to get a drink. Hot peanuts are served for your snacking pleasure and there is also a enclosed smoking lounge for the self-polluting. Hemlock is a Polk Street dive bar where you might not come up for air. But so what, we all have to go sometime, and Hemlock worked for Socrates and it may as well work for you. Live music plays in the back 5-6 nights a week. There is no cover charge to get into the bar, but a cover is typically charged to enter the music room.
