Checked in and checked right back out!
It was supposed to be a romantic weekend getaway for my husband's big 30th birthday. The place promised to be beautiful and peaceful. Well, the location is nice, but the accommodation was horrible and unacceptable. The unit we checked in to looked like a run-down cabin from the outside. It was musty and dark and dirty inside. The bathroom was an absolute horror. The bed linens were also dark and dirty looking. The place smelled really bad. To top it off my husband saw a spider on the wall. I refused to sleep in a place like that. We checked right out in 5 minutes, leaving the place untouched. We were glad they were gracious enough to give us a refund. We checked into another hotel and paid more than twice as much, but it was worth it! We will never again go to this place nor will we recommend it to anyone. Pay a little more and stay in a clean and decent place!

Horrible Food, Great Stay
Well, I would recommed this to people who love the outdoors, nature, and a low-key setting. We had a very "rustic" room that was extremely basic (some would say low-end), but then having a view of the ocean makes up for it. Our room did not have a TV, and it was very peaceful.

Sheer Horror
They say it is supposed to be rustic and nature-friendly, but it is simply run-down and falling apart. Staff is unfriendly and dysfunctional to say the least, rooms are dumpy and smelly, too hot or too cold depending on the outside weather.

A little slice of heaven!
Imagine oprning my eyes at break of day to the sun shining over the Pacific! That was just the beginning of my week's sojourn in one of the ebachfront cabins at Asilomar. It was as though I had won a trip to paradise--an I was there to attend a business conference. Serious business.

The Pacific Grove "place to be"
We stayed 4 nights at Asilomar as leisure guests, not conference attendees. We absolutely loved it. I found so little first hand information on Asilomar that I knew I had to write a review. The Asilomar grounds are spacious and beautiful. Historic buildings, designed my architect Julia Morgan surrounded by grassy open space and trails. Deer and raccoons wander the grounds freely and benches and outside tables provide many a spot to enjoy. Asilomar Conference Center is run by the California State Parks and is just steps away from Asilomar State Beach. All of the other hotels in the area border Asilomar grounds making it the “place to be” in Pacific Grove. Our room was large and spacious with a real wood fireplace – restocked everyday. A full breakfast was served each morning. The food was good and wholesome offering us choices of what we would like. We had the option of buying lunch and dinner if we wanted. We had dinner there 2 nights and were able to order wine to go with out meal.Asilomar is an experience not just a place to stay. It is perfect for family reunions, no one would have to cook, and as leisure guests we had a blast watching the various conference clientele. All in all, it is the only place we will ever stay in Pacific Grove.
