This castle, which dates from the Middle Ages, is the largest in Eastern Switzerland. Part of the castle is now a museum which houses a collection of armor and antiques. In the 15th century, the city of Zurich acquired the castle, and until 1798 various people lived here. 1917 saw the first exhibition at the then newly-opened museum, focusing on the Middle Ages. That same exhibition, though it did change throughout the years, was more-or-less maintained until 1999.
