Church of the Holy Ghost is one of Tallinn’s oldest churches, and the only sacred building that preserved its original form. It was built in the 1630’s and still retains its original exterior, except for the Baroque spire. The church played a key role in Estonia’s history. The tower bell dating back to 1433 was damaged by fire, yet still remains the oldest one in Tallinn. On the façade there is a painted clock, which is considered the oldest timekeeper in Estonia. Inside, there is a Gothic style wooden sculpture. The church is also the home of a precious piece of medieval work; the altar is reveled by many and was commissioned by Berndt Notke in 1483.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York!
