The Umschlagplatz, or "tranfer point" was the place where more than 300,000 Jewish people awaited deportation to Nazi death camps. It was also the only point of trade or entry between Warsaw and walled off Jewish Ghetto. A monument to all Jews sent to Nazi extermination camps now stands at the point where many awaited their deportation to what was made out to be a re-settlement journey, but was actually a trip to three gas chambers in Treblinka. The stark Umschlagplatz Monument resembles a railroad freight car engraved with hundreds of Jewish names of those and many more who met this sad and tragic end.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York!
