Back to Marston House The Marston House, San Diego's front porch The Marston House Museum and Gardens is one of San Diego's best places to visit. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places for architecture and landscape the site has a multitude of interesting aspects to discover. The house is an Arts and Crafts mansion built by George Marston, one of San Diego's most prolific philanthropists and civic leaders. The architecture is amazing, designed by master architect Irving Gill of the Hebbard and Gill partnership. The guided tours include the history, architecture and of course the wonderful art and furniture collection that is on exhibit. The gardens can be rented for weddings or events. Built in 1905 by Master Architect Irving Gill of the Hebbard & Gill partnership this mansion is a unique expression in the Arts & Crafts movement. The tours are long but very informative about the Arts & Crafts movement, Master Architect Irving Gill, the Marston family and early sustainable design.
