We go once every other weekend!
The Tea Pavillion outside of the garden has great affordable food. You can eat on the outside deck while taking in the beautiful views of the canyon/surrounding architecture and listening to peaceful japanese music. It is a must if you go to Balboa Park!

I got great ideas!
It is small, but My family and I had a great time...We got great ideas on pond decorating and the use of plants with rocks...after we left the garden, we had a late lunch right outside that you can buy there....It didn't take long to get and it was really good....Go, you'll like it.Patty

Smallest Japanese Garden I've ever been to
I have to say I was very disappointed in this Japanese Garden. First of all, it's so small it only takes about 10-15 minutes to see it all, and that includes a few minutes at the koi pond. The plants are mediocre, and the landscaping is average at best. Not worth $3.00 to see, but more along the lines of free to $1.00. If you're already at Balboa Park, which is gorgeous, you might include it, but don't make a special trip for it.
