An art museum created by collector Frieder Burda to promote art, culture, and science, Sammlung Frieder Burda was designed by architect Richard Meier. Boasting of 1,000 sq. mts. of exhibition space, it sits on a prized section of Baden-Baden's beautiful Lichtentaler Boulevard. The Sammlung Frieder Burda has its roots in Expressionism and today comprises more than 500 paintings, sculptures and works on paper. The focus is on classical modern and contemporary art. With its total of eight late works by Picasso, the Collection owns a large selection of his late artwork which is almost beyond comparison.
