Back to Copacabana Palace Distance This hotel, like all the others on here is MORE than 5.56 miles from the international airport.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 01 2007 Past glamour in a declining place Although the hotel's style is outdated and refers to the glamour pre-WW II palaces, it surely has wealthy charm, nice smiling service and an acceptable value-for-money ratio when you like luxury and have chosen to stay in Rio at Copacabana beach. But... and this is the real problem, Rio looks nice from above or when you appreciate distant views. Once you discover the detail, Copacabana beach is heavily deteriorated and one of the most unsecure places in the world. The probability of getting mugged for an unexperienced tourist is extremely high. An being a witness of ultra-violence isn't uncommon when drug gangs or other bandits are seeking control of a street corner. Rio, I once loved it, but the unsecurity - last week's 6000 soldiers' presence cannot change that, makes it a place to avoid. That even spoils the stay at the C Palace. Although there is security, it stops at the exit.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 26 2007 Maybe best hotel I've ever stayed in Start with a magnificent location on the beach at Copacabana. Hotel gracefully combines the best of a modern hotel with a 1920s vintage "grande dame." Food is excellent, in particular the breakfast buffet. Rooms are clean, spacious, and well appointed. We loved opening the window and sleeping to the sound of waves breaking on the beach. Service is as attentive and helpful as anywhere I've ever been.

Reviewed by: Colorado from on Nov 30 2006 Best Hotel in Rio!!! If you ever think about going to Rio, this hotel will set if off for you. The Copacabana Palace is truly one of a kind. The exquisite service, quality, and friendliness of the people are phenomenal. The hotel is rated one of the most popular, and best in Rio. Each time that I was serviced by the front desk, they knew my name without me even saying anything ..now is that service or what! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who will plan a trip to Rio.
Reviewed by: Big Will from on Aug 24 2006 Best hotel in S. America The single down side to this hotel is the price. If you can afford it, then this is the only place you should consider staying in Rio. The staff was friendly and helpfull at all times. The beach is amazing and their beach staff regularly came around with water etc. I stayed there for two weeks and enjoyed every min i was in the hotel. If you are going during carnival, then this hotel will be a welcome respite to the hustle and bustle of the city.
