Stille Omgang (Silent Procession) Mar 20th, 2010
Stille Omgang (Silent Procession) makes its way through the streets of Amsterdam every March. This procession commemorates the "Miracle of the Host" of 1345, a strange occurrence that involved a dying man vomiting once given the Holy Sacrament and last rites. Though cast into a fire, the host emerged unscathed, thus the celebration of the miracle. The procession follows the Heiligeweg (Holy Way). It begins and ends at Spui, via Kalverstraat, Nieuwendijk, Warmoesstraat and Nes.
