Back to Ashok (The) Seemed good given circumstances From July 2005: We were put up here for a night by Indian Airlines after ur flight to Leh was cancelled. After 6 hours in the non air-conditioned domestic airport in Delhi, it seemed like a haven. Went for a swim in the pool, had a good meal, and slept like a rock. That said, the room was dank, and overdue for refurbishment.

Reviewed by: JohnS from on Nov 04 2005 Hotel Ashok The place was nice enough but service was poor. Three calls to get electrical fixed (he fixed the outlet in the wall but did not rewire a light that was broken), three calls to get internet fixed (router programmed wrong), 3 calls to get towels (they took mine and didn't leave any), and two calls to get TV fixed - quit working after staff cleaned. Just keep calling until you get someone that will help you.
Reviewed by: Matt from on Oct 02 2005 Ashok hotel Delhi should be renamed A Shocking Hotel The guidebooks states that this is the premier hotel in Delhi. A 5* deluxe hotel. This must have been written in the 1970's when the hotel opened. The rooms have damp patches, burnt out electrical sockets and seem to have not be redecorated since opening. Cleanliness is very low, dirt and dust everywhere and the bedsheets were stained with blood. Reception staff rude and unhelpful unwilling to change rooms until 23 people in our group complained at the same time. Substutute rooms not much better and very hot as A/C not working and only aided in spreading the dust. Breakfast room chaotic, no cups, hot food left to get cold as burners not lit. Reception staff did not even know if there was a bar in the hotel. A government managed hotel, need I say more?
