Recently renamed as Rajiv Chowk, Connaught Place was built in 1931. This extensive complex is made up of three concrete circles of colonnaded arcades and is the heart of New Delhi. A busy commercial hub, it is also has endless shopping stores selling everything under the sun. You can find imported electronic goods, sports gear, rare artifacts, books, clothing, household items, etc. It is an explorer's paradise, with every corner hiding an exotic shop which is bound to surprise you. Great atmosphere and buzzing with activity, it's worth spending an entire day here.

Mini Guide on Blocks
While one of the most interesting facets of CP is its circular architecture, I would really NOT reccomend doing the full circuit! There are three circles: outer, middle and inner. Outer: This circle is quite random. On some blocks the outer circle is quite interesting with nice eateries and gift shops whilst on tohers it is almost dead. If you want to shop then don;t pick outer. if yu want to eat, then pay this a visit. It has Braista Coffee Lounge, Ruby Tuesday and the infamous Chatori Ghalli...(which sells illness as part and package of their regular meals..) Middle: Industrial stuff. The middle circle is not for the faint hearted. You have to pretty much know exactly where you're going with this one as it is very shabby and dirty so totally not suitable for roaming around on foot. It mainly has wholesalers and industrial parts stuff. Lots of car mechanics and grarages too. Not really for tourists. Inner: This is where the fun begins. made of 6 Blocks A-F, the innercircle is where you SHOP in CP. A)- pretty missable. Quite boring stuff.. maybe some luggage stores or something... just leave it. 0 stars B)- bookshop galgotia is a leg and shoe shop balluja's is pretty intense too. There are also some other book/CD stores and some crockery and sporting shops. 2 stars C) Very small missable block. I can't even remeber what is here...save prehaps a Wills Lifestyle and Rebok store. 1 star D)- Good. Heels is good for shoes and there are some other forgein brand shops as well. 3 stars E)- Better. Lots of cool foregin brand stores. Like Benetton and sports stuff. 4 stars F)- Kewl. The sporty block. Has Nike, Adidas, Planet Sport, Rebok and Fila. Oh and Levi's! Check out Vintage for Girls too. 5 stars
