Compared to the Spring Festival, this celebration, celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, is considerably more sedate. Instead of massive street processions, it focuses on family reunions. Many use the opportunity to head out on holiday and celebrate in traditional manner by gazing at the full moon (a reunion symbol) and chomping on moon-cakes (meat, bean-paste and sugar concoctions). Even if you are just visiting the city, you can still 'participate' by tasting moon-cakes; they are available in just about every restaurant.
