Nestled just 10 minutes north of Xiamen on the mainland this small village is the lasting legacy of Mr. Tan Kahkee, a local philanthropist. After pocketing millions overseas, he returned and began endowing his fortune in educational institutions. As a result, the Jimei High School, a massive Chinese-Gothic structure situated along a lake, ranks as one of the world's most beautiful high schools. A small adjacent park houses a statue of Kahkee. To walk the entire village lasts about two hours.
