This beer festival attracts on average more than 1.2 million visitors for 16 days of raising mugs and sampling what the best breweries in the world have to offer. What began in 1991 as a local event celebrating Qingdao's Tsingtao Brewery has now evolved into the largest such festival in Asia. An elaborate grand opening ceremony, Chinese drummers, fireworks, rides, beach competitions and drinking games are now all part of the experience.
