Empty? on a Friday Night?
My wife and I really looked forward to trying this place. We made reservations under the assumption it would be packed. However, we arrived and there were only 4-5 tables with people, the rest empty. That was the first indicator something may not be right. We ordered our drinks, the first one was incorrectly made, so it was returned. We ordered the escargot, chef salad to start, then the rack of lamb and 14 oz new york. Then something interesting. The prices on the menu for the steak was apparantly incorrect. I was advised an 18 oz New York would actually be 75 dollars as opposed to the 43 indicated in the menu. I settled for the 14 oz for 65 dollars, just to see if it was actually worth it. Food finally arrived, almost an hour after we ordered. Understandable if packed, but the place now had only one other table occupied. Escargot was average at best, not in the shell. The 6 dollar salads were worth about 2 dollars, if that. Finally, the steak and lamb arrived. The steak was very tender, but had a huge strip of fat all the way through. 65 bucks? no way. 1 piece of cauliflower, 3 slices of carrot, and one half asparagus was the extent of the provided veggies. An overcooked baked potato was also provided. The rack of Lamb was not tender at all. All in all, the 200+ tab was not even close to being worth it. Although lunch may be a good value according to some, there are way better options for a friday night. The server tried, was friendly, but the overall experience was negative. At no point did management come to our table and apologize for the time it took to get our meals. The menu provided on the net is innacurate with regards to prices, and the actual menu at the establishment is also incorrect. Basically, they can charge whatever they want for the steaks, and you would never know. They tried to explain the price increase was due to the switch to a higher quality meat, but i don't think so. The fact that the menu inaccurately reflects the actual prices is just another indicator of a failing restaraunt business model. Complete managerial and leadership incompetence in my humble opinion. I strongly recommend avoiding this place, or going at lunch to give it a try before investing in an overpriced dinner. The price to quality ratio is way off. And, don't forget the 15% service charge.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE
I used to come to Hy's often, years ago, and after dining there last month, I was so disappointed with the dinner, things have changed and the food is definitely not worth the high prices anymore. I had the lamb chops, caesar salad, escargot, and my guests had steaks..was very disappointed with the lamb, and there were very small portions.
