The Tokei-dai or Clock Tower is one of the major symbols of Hokkaido and one of the must-visits in Sapporo. Built in 1878, this venerable landmark has, according to local legends, never missed tolling an hour since it was constructed. There is a small museum on the first floor that outlines the history of Sapporo since the Meiji Era (1868-1912). Although it is not really an imposing building, Tokei-dai is certainly a good background for a photo shot!
