Back to Mt. Moiwa Ropeway Take the ropeway in Winter, walk in Summer The ropeway itself? Well, it serves it's purpose, which is to get you to the top of Mt Moiwa so you can look at the view. Unfortunately that generally isn't so great. I hiked up the mountain between 7 and 10 times, as well as getting the ropeway up when I first arrived in the middle of winter. (Don't waste your time trying to climb it in winter. The snow is too deep, and it would be downright dangerous). If you are going to go up, go when you figure you're going to see the nicest, least smog filled scene. Evening, when the first snow is heading in, or it's clear enough to see the mountain range in the direction of Jozenki. I've heard you can see Ditzetzan on a clear day, but I never spotted it.
