At noon on New Year's Day morning, after a very heavy Hogmanay night out on the town, a group of mad fools go for a swim in the River Forth. Meeting at the Mooring's Pub, they march down Hign Street accompanied by the Queensferry Marching Band down to the water's edge and jump in. It's supposed to be a marvellous hangover cure and no wet suits are allowed. Everybody's welcome and free hot drinks and soup are provided to all who take the plunge.
