Versital Course
In a city bussling with activity and full of stoplights, this run is one that is beautiful, hilly, and uninterupted. I just ran a race there, the Run for the Cure, to raise money for Breast cancer research. The paths are paved and level, good for strollers, walking, and running. Just watch our for bikes! Sections are seperated from palace grounds by lush deep moats where the occassional crane and swan can be spotted. Restrooms and drinking water available. And best of all- it's free!

Fresh Air!
Getting a little stir crazy in the city so I went for 2 laps around the Palace. Even in the middle of the day the sidewalk was easy to navigate. Note: The 5K course runs inside the Kitanomaru Park.. if you try to go all the way around (including the Nippon Budokan) you loose the moat and have some narrow sidewalks to navigate. One other note, Stay off the gravel mall at the South-East corner of the Palace. I got chased off by a uniformed official who, in pretty good English, told me the area was for walking not running. Lots of other joggers out on the perimeter sidewalk. Really nice run!

Gorgeous at cherry blossom time day and night
The cherry blossom trees are HUGE here and are lit up at night; during the day you can take a small rowboat to peruse the beauty.

Imperial Palace
I loved the beautiful views! It is a photographers dream! The walk is great and the the paths were clean, free from mudd or trash. It was so peaceful they had rest areas were you could stop and take in the view, the signs and maps were in English so you could see where you were going and read about what you were looking at. It was like taking a nature walk. I would go again anytime.

Hey it is Free - stop complaining
Just getting to Imperial Palace is a hike. The metro is only a "few blocks away" now - what exactly is a block to the Japanese - let say this - There are two entrances to Imperial Palace - each is separated by a 15 minute walk. The jogging course is immaculate - water is basutiful. When walking twoards one point from another, you can see Tokyo Tower. Be brave like I did and walk to Roppong from Imperial Palace. Head towards Tokyo Tower and you are in teh right direction.
