what an awful experience never again
I had eaten at Matterhorn for dinner before and was again returning to Wellington for business. I decided to take my clients to Matterhorn for a business lunch. Only to be presented with a bill for wine that was not ordered. The wine I had requested was on the prior page on the wine list at $70 per bottle, the wine that was provided was $130 per bottle. Upon questioning the waitstaff I was told that it was the customers responsibility to check the labels of the wine bottles. Even though I had pointed directly to the wine I requested on the page. The wait staff and the duty manager then decided to create a scene whilst I had my business colleagues at the table. This continued for 30 mins to the point the waitress threw a hissy fit and smashed the empty bottle of wine that she removed from the bin to show the different labels. What an experience, only to be told that I was at fault and no responsibility at the staff at Matterhorn. I have now shared my experience with many colleagues and the internet, this bar with its many awards soon is losing its lustre based on sheer arrogance and rudeness. NEVER AGAIN!!

a nice variety
this place has quite a lot of different areas; a dim bar for drinking, a open resteraunt area, a outdoor area and a kinda hidden cozy lounge area. it's all dimly lit. service is some of the best in town.
