I want to live there
Ok, so they didn't have a business center or a gym, but what they did have made up for it.

Lost Reservation
We made a reservation and received a confirmation number for one of their older rooms. They told us that they would put us on a waiting list for one of their newer rooms that they were adding on to the hotel. We called back a month later to see how that was going and they told us that they had no confirmation number for us and did not see our name in any reservation. When I told them the name of the person who helped us. He said she was no longer with the company and that that is why. They were not willing to help us and said they had a room available but at twice the cost we were quoted. They also wanted us to sign a contract by fax, before we could even talk about a reservation. You would think they would honor what one of their employees had confirmed and quoted. How could they loose a confirmation number? Very irresponsible!

great
This hotel is in the heart of La Jolla, on the main drag, Prospect St. Two blocks from the surf, short walks to food and shopping, location could not be better.

Would not go back
Quaint hotel, but they run their dumpster/trash compactor right under your window at 1am and then again at 6am despite my calling the front desk and complaining. No offer to remedy or move the room. Food is excellant in high-end resturant.

Historic Charmer
If you are like me and like to stay in hotels with some historic charm, the Grande Colonial is a great choice.

Magnificent
The location was fabulous and The Grande Colonial was like a bed and breakfast but with the comforts of a hotel. Being a local of San Diego, I wanted to show my Bostonian fiance a bit of La Jolla and the Grande Colonial was just perfect for that.

Great location & place to stay!
What a wonderful historic hotel. With unique boutique rooms and a fantastic restaurant, NINE-TEN, in the hotel, I feel this hotel has just about everything you could ask for.

Poor Service
I think they are depending on reputation more then true service. My experience anyways.
