Everything from photographic exhibits to Bach performances takes place at this arts complex in downtown Carmel. It is one of the largest venues in the town, and it hosts countless events large and small throughout the year (not the least of which is an annual series of concerts by the Monterey County Symphony). The onsite Center for Photographic Art has ongoing exhibitions, while the lecture hall attracts speakers from around the world. Carmel Bach Festival Jul 1st, 2010 to Jul 31st, 2010 17th-Century Music Festival This three-week-long summer concert series has been around more than 50 years. Enjoy the sweet sounds of 17th-century masterpieces, while familiarizing yourself with a town famous for its scenery, lifestyle and local attractions. The atmosphere is casual but the music is black-tie. Venues include the Sunset Center's Theater, Foyer and Lower Terrace, All Saints Church, Carmel Mission Basilica and its Crespi Hall, Pebble Beach's Church in the Forest, the Church of the Wayfarer, KRML Radio Station and San Carlos Cathedral. The musical director and conductor is Bruno Weil, director of the Carmel Bach Festival since 1992. The concertmaster is Elizabeth Wallfisch, internationally known for her expertise in 18th-century music.
