This hotel, built in 1962, was completely refurbished in 1998. Only a few blocks from the University of Texas and about a mile from downtown, the property is a popular choice with Longhorn fans, tourists and low-key politicos alike. Ideal for a person who has come down to Tucson for the first time as the hotel is close umpteen places of interest. Though not in the same league as super expensive hotels, but it does holds by itself.

good deal, no frills
Call the Rodeway direct to get very helpful information and the best rates. The internet reservation service quoted a rate that was double what I got by calling the desk. The "breakfast" last time I was there consisted of cold cereal and maybe a banana; while that menu is not likely to delight anyone, it is included in the low rate.

While the facilities aren't fancy or immaculate, they are reasonably clean and comfortable. And the price and convenience for someone visiting UT is excellent.
