Fringe Festival
2009-07-15 to 2009-07-26 Ongoing The Winnipeg Fringe Festival takes place every year in July and is the second largest such event in North America. Artists gather here to share their experiences and showcase the best live performances in an informal and inexpensive setting. There are international, national and local companies that come together to make this event successful. Application is on a first come, first serve basis. In addition, there is also a 'Frequent Fringe Card', which allows you to see 10 shows at an extremely low rate. This event takes place at various venues in close proximity to the head office at the Old Market Square. Check website for maps and venue details.

At the turn of the last century, Old Market Square was the site of Winnipeg's fire hall. Since then, it has been converted into a much-needed green space in the center of the downtown core. During the summer, it is a good spot to enjoy a take-away lunch from the many restaurants in the area, including the Fyxx and the Glass Onion.
