Overcharging at Friday on the Front Porch???
Recently, after having heard about "Friday on the Front Porch" at the Carolina Inn, I stopped by to check it out. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was a little strange. I'm not sure if it was that everyone was trying to hard to fit into some southern cliche, or if it was the overcrowding, or if it was all the pretensiousness, or if it was the sad fact that the "too cool" bar tenders overcharged my tab! (not cool guys, very not cool). It really speaks to poor management/hiring practices when you find barkeeps like that. Needless to say I will not be going back, and I will discourage any of my friends to stop by either. Additionally, when I was interviewing for graduate school at UNC, I stayed at the hotel. It was nice, but a little overpriced - your not paying for accomodation, your paying for location I suppose. To sum it up... staff is pretty immature and unprofessional, but the hotel is "relatively" nice.

Okay stay, but hard to communicate with the staff
The rooms and the service are much to be desired, but the location is good as long as you do not need to drive anywhere during your stay.

We were very impressed!
My husband and I chose the Carolina Inn as the site for our wedding and reception back in 2002. We were impressed from the minute we first walked into the hotel and walked away with wonderful memories of the entire event. It was better than we had planned for or expected, really every detail worked out great. The guests who stayed there all raved about their rooms and we too enjoyed our room and the special basket of goodies the hotel provided for us. It's a beautiful place!

Thanksgiving Buffet
My family ate here for Thanksgiving, and enjoyed the most wonderful buffet spread! The food was well laid out across the buffet room, wll organized and very appealing! It tasted even better than it looked. I would highly recommend having your Thanksgiving dinner there!

Absolutely Delightful!
While the location is excellent for those visiting the university it is also just one of my very favorite hotels. We travel just to stay there. Staff is very accomodating , food is superb. They treat Hilton Honors Dimond members especially nice!

Located On Campus ...
I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Chapel Hill (or UNC). This hotel is located on campus in walking distance from Franklin Street (street with places to eat and shop, and drink). The historic hotel has clean rooms and a wonderful dining room!
