Back to Greenwich Village Village Knows!! Villages are all great areas, really. But when it gets too crowded in the Greenwich I head over to the East Village, get a spot on East Village Visitors Center and enjoy my time. They've got great coffee and tours to suit whatever need.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 21 2009 Ab Fab!!! By English Girl Alone in New York I absolutely loved Greenwich Village; far from the madding crowds of 5th Avenue and full of character. The eclectic mix of clothes shops was fab. I spent the best part of a day just meandering through the village alone, which slowly became Soho. This is a must; if you're a Brit and like Covent Garden then you'll love Greenwich and Soho. You must try Roni's - dress shop on Bleeker (I think), fab outfits at reasonable prices.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 24 2007 The Village rules! It's the best part of NYC for young people (20-35)! It's so cool. I went there when I was in New York this August. If I ever come to live in NY I'll try to find an apartment here. The atmosphere is great. It's near Soho and NYU and there are a lot of young people. It's a great neighborhood!

Reviewed by: Marty from on Aug 13 2007 Love the Village! As a native New Yorker, I was brought into the city quite young & exposed to lots of different things to see & do. I have to say, my fave has always been the West Village. It's a place of diversity & I feel at home whenever there. Not that one should be careless in NYC, but you don't get that sense that you could be mugged at any minute here. Known for its eccletic shopping,cool bars, small cafe`s & winding streets, you can't go wrong in the Village. {Just remember, this is not Chinatown, so don't come bargian hunting here. :)}
Reviewed by: 00000 from on Jul 22 2007 A CITY IN A CITY The zigzagging streets and charming brownstones of the West Village have a far more laid back atmosphere than most neighborhoods in the city. The center of New York's gay and student communities lies here, with a variety of funky shopping and nightlife including jazz, rock and dance clubs, restaurants, bars and cafes. By the early 1900s, the Village had fully established itself as the center of radical thinking in the United States. Famous reformers, artists and intellectuals all gathered here, and many still do. Do not miss a visit to Washington Square Park.

During my recent trip to NYC, I had the pleasure of spending a day walking the streets and parks in the Village and had the time of my life! From great little shops to the best restaurants in the city, Greenwich Village has it ALL! If you get the chance, check out the Life Cafe. Their menu and ambiance is like no other! And the price is great, too!
