Back to La Posada De Santa Fe Resort & Spa Great time at La Posada De Santa Fe We had such a great time at this hotel. It isn't really all that fancy but more like home if you are on an week long visit. It has a nice sitting room so you can read the paper in the morning without distrubing someones sleep. Is walking distance to all the art galleries and shops and have a very nice breakfast in the morning. I really enjoyed my visit. They even had umbrellas ready for you in case of a shower.
Reviewed by: bunny from on Jul 07 2009 VERY Pricey, Mediocre Service I just visited this spa with two other friends. I had a facial (Barbara gave a good facial...not the best I've ever had, but she was very friendly and attentive.) The charge for a 50 minute facial was $135 BEFORE TAX AND MANDATORY 19% gratuity. BY FAR, the most expensive spa in Santa Fe. 80 minute massage, $200 BEFORE TAX AND GRATUITY. Changing room very small, no place to sit and sip tea, etc. in the spa, that I could see. Small dressing area to be used after showering (only two showers, by the way.) Also, only ONE HAIRDRYER!!! What's that all about? It's my understanding that the ownership of the spa has recently changed from local onsite ownership, to "remote" owners. The spa is located in a beautiful hotel, La Posada, which is a "Leading Hotels of the World" member, but you'd never know it by experiencing the spa....OTHER than the HIGH PRICES. I would say, there are MANY other spas in Santa Fe to experience that receive much higher accolades than this place, AND ARE as much as 40% less expensive.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 26 2008 Best place for a wedding. My daughter married on the terrace "La Terraza" overlooking the Cathedral. It was beautiful. It could not been better. The service, food, rooms were the best. Family from all over the country thought that it was the best wedding they had been to.
Reviewed by: Nancy from on Aug 09 2008 Shabby Rustic Though I found the main building quite nice, but the room we had was just plain shabby. There was paint chipping, the carpet and bed spread were dirty, and the bed pillows were all too flat. The gas fireplace was less than romantic.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 03 2008 FANTASTIC does not describe ~ This was our first visit to La Posada, but not to Santa Fe. We've stayed in several other high end hotels, but have never had such a wonderful experience. The staff is so friendly and makes every effort to assist with every need. The rooms are large and spacious and provide good working arrangement for business travelers and it is within walking distance to the New Mexico Commission. The food is absolutely the BEST we've experienced in any hotel in Santa Fe. Being it was winter, we could only imagine how beautiful the grounds would be in spring/summer and are looking forward to our return during that time. Would highly recommend to romantics as well as the business traveler and groups.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 01 2008 An Outstanding Christmas at La Posada La Posada is an exquisite and tastefully designed resort. It is designed in the cultural "adobe architectural" style...with well manicured grounds and landscape. The staffing is very polite, professional and well-trained in meeting the needs of their clients.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 02 2008 Just OK.... The enclosed resort grounds are certainly attractive and relaxing. The concierge (Johnny) was great and was very helpful! Most of the staff, though, are aloof and difficult to warm up to. The spa services in particular were average at best. My friend and I reserved appointments for 50 min. deep tissue massages. My friend reported that his therapist seemed to be working hard, though the result was mediocre. My therapist started out well, but did not complete the massage in time. At $135 per massage, that's poor value and customer service. The gym and pool are small, but most hotels/resorts offer tiny workout spaces. There is a nice restuarant on the premises (Fuego) and the food was tasty but pricey. The resort is located nearby the plaza and Canyon Road. One thing we were not prepared for was the backpackers asking for money. On our first night there, we were harassed by a carload of teenagers who looked like they wanted to beat us up - for no reason at all! Best advice: avoid the plaza at night. It's creepy and all the shops are closed anyway. There are plenty of nice resturants located on Marcy Street and streets surrounding the plaza.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 12 2007 Will definitely be back! We were a bit concerned by the poor ratings on this site but our experience could hardly have been better! The service was wonderful, everyone was helpful and friendly: front desk, housekeeping, concierge. We stayed for 5 days so had occasion to speak with many different hotel staff. The grounds were quite lovely and the area very quiet. Our room was very nice - felt very "New Mexico" and was clean and comfortable. My only complaint being that the bathroom lighting was not really adequate. The bar and both restaurants are very nice - very expensive but not unusually so for Santa Fe.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 16 2007 Will never return Our tiny "resort" room featured stained carpet, slow drains, drafty doors and windows, the list goes on. We had to request coffee and mugs both nights as housekeeping left neither. La Posada's location in Santa Fe is excellent but its value is abysmal. As my wife stated, we have never paid so much for so little!! Watch out for their mandatory resort activity and parking fees.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 15 2007 We shall return! Just returned from 4 day at La Posada. The suite was nicely appointed and ample in size. The smoke detector covers were missing, but otherwise just fine. The staff was very attentive but not intrusive. For example, there was the charming and beautiful Esperanza, the engaging Mathilda and Cristian and interesting young folks including one from Moldova. We appreciated the very interesting blend of staff. The food was excellent and we appreciated the option to eat outdoors for all 3 meals. The young lady bartender was charming and the parking staff responsive. The location is fabulous, being just a couple of short blocks to the town plaza. We will return!!
